MAZDAYASNA
ZOROASTRISM • BEHDIN
Zoroastrianism or Mazdayasna is one of the oldest religions, presumably formed around 1,800 and 600 B.C. in Bactria (today in Afganistan) with around 120,000 up to 150,000 followers.
Its Supreme Being Ahura Mazda (also known as Ohrmazd) is accompanied by the immortal Amesh Spenta. His opponent is Ahriman, an evil demon.
The Zurvanism is an extinct way of Zoroastrianism. Its idea of cosmogony was based on Zurvan – time, a term which also labels the space dimension of the cosmos. The basic idea of this religion was „Zurvan akarano“ (the eternal time), which may be resembled in the material world by finite Universal Time and space.
The images are showing among others the Temples of Fire in the iranian city of Yazd whose fire is supposed to burn since 1,500 years and the Towers of the Wind in where until few decades ago corpses were buried in ritual funerals.
